Our Team

The people behind FarmHQ — hardware engineers, irrigation specialists, and software developers who grew up around agriculture.

David Wallace

David Wallace

CEO & Co-Founder

David ran irrigation operations for a 1,200-acre orchard in Wasco County before founding FarmHQ. He holds a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from Oregon State and spent three years at John Deere's precision ag hardware division, where he shipped cellular connectivity modules for combine monitors. He left to build the product he needed but couldn't buy.

Maria Chen

Maria Chen

CTO & Co-Founder

Maria designed embedded firmware for Sierra Wireless IoT modems for six years before joining FarmHQ. She holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington. At Sierra, she built the OTA firmware update system now running on over 4 million deployed devices. She architected FarmHQ's module firmware and cellular stack from the first prototype.

James Whitfield

James Whitfield

Head of Agronomy

James spent 12 years as a certified crop adviser (CCA) working with irrigated row crop and tree fruit operations across the Columbia Basin. He joined FarmHQ to translate irrigation science into the scheduling algorithms and soil moisture thresholds the platform uses. He holds a B.S. in Crop Science from Washington State University.

We're building the team now

FarmHQ is hiring engineers and field support specialists. If you know agricultural equipment, write embedded C, or have worked as a pump technician or CCA, we want to talk. Preference for candidates who have spent time on a working farm.
